All Grades are Posted for Soc 102

The final grades are posted on Web CT.

If you'd like to discuss your grade, I'll be at the classroom tomorrow, Thursday, from 10:30 to 10:50a.

By way of reminder:

450-500 = A
400-449 = B
350-399 = C
300-349 = D
Below 300 = F

Grades are up for Soc 101 and Soc 102 on Web CT

I have finished all grading of what I have received and could read in both Soc 101 and Soc 102. I cannot discuss grades directly via email or telephone, but I can answer questions on how I graded items. Please check Web CT and feel free to call or email me with any questions regarding grades or your preparation for your upcoing exams.

SOC 101 Diaries Due December 4, 11am--Web CT Assignment Drop Box is Up!

Your Diary for your group project is due by class time on December 4th.

It should have entries for each encounter you had with your group as a whole or individual members of the group during the time you worked on your project. It should be a sociological analysis of these encounters, not just a description.

You may submit it electronically in Web CT assignment drop box (marked "Diary, due December 4), email to me or turn into me at the beginning of class.

Late submissions will have points taken off.

If you have questions regarding the diary requirements please review the class notes before contacting me. You should have specific notes on the requirements. However, if you have further questions, please contact me via Web CT or email.

Soc 101 Exam #2 Virtual Office Hours

I will be in the Web CT chat room "Virtual Office" tonight from 10p to 11p to answer questions regarding tomorrow's exam.

SOC 205 -- Don't Forget Exam is Wednesday

SOC 102 Theory Papers are Due October 2

You can drop your papers in the WebCT drop box. Email me if you have any questions on how to do it. On time submissions must be made by class time on Thursday, October 02. I am allowing late submissions until 10pm Thursday night.

SOC 101 Exam 1 -- Virtual Hours

I will be holding "Virtual Office Hours" in the WebCT chat room called "Virtual Office" on Wednesday, October 1, from 8am to 9:15am and 10pm to 11pm.

On your panel, go to "Communication Tools" and "Chat" (NOT "Discussion Board") and click on "Virtual Office" -- a chat box should pop up and just start posting questions there. These questions will be seen by all in the chat room who are logged in at the time.

If you can't join me there but have questions about the exam or if you prefer to ask questions privately, email me -- pattie.thomas(at)csn.edu. I will be monitoring emails as well as the chat room during those periods, so you should get an answer fairly quickly during the virtual office hours and I'll be trying to respond within the hour for any other questions.

WebCT is up for both Soc 101 and Soc 102: Important Information

Here are some things you should know:

The courses are in the old system, so log in at http://webcampus.csn.edu.

If you have never logged in before, you will need your student number.

The WebCT ID is the last 8 digits of your student number.
The password is the month and year of your birthday (mmyy).

After your first log-in, you should change your password.

Log-in problems should be addressed by the school's help 1-800-630-7563.


Once you are in WebCT, you should see you course in the home panel.

If you do not see the class email me pattie.thomas(at)csn.edu with your full name and the course you are in. I will double check the roster and make sure you are on the list for access to the site. If you are not, I will fix and email you to try again. If you are, I will email you the tech's name & email that you will need to contact to troubleshoot.

Based upon the latest rosters I have, I believe all students in Soc 101-Section 110 and Soc 102-Section 101 should have access. So please let me know if you do not get access.

WEB CT is Up for Soc 102

I'm still working on the Intro course, but those of you in my Contemporary Social Issues class can now access course syllabus & slides on Web CT.

It is a skeleton right now, but I will be adding more information, links, calendar events and discussion boards. So definitely visit often.

I'll continue to add slides here for another week or so, in case there are kinks to work out.
